RCS&RDS stops Eurosport transmissions
RCS&RDS has decided to cease transmission of Eurosport in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia while at the same time continuing to offer the channel in Romania.
However, on December 21 Europort decided to replace the international versions, which offered football matches from the Premier League, with a new channel called Europort Romania, to be broadcast to RCS&RDS subscribers in all four countries.
RCS&RDS says it then began to receievc complaints from its customers – the move affected around one million – who were being offered the new channel in Romanian rather than their own language.
It also points out that Eurosport only has the rights to show Premier League matches in Romania and not the other three countries.
RCS&RDS adds: “The decision RCS&RDS took into account both the interests of consumers in all countries where we operate , but also took into account the rights of the license for Premier League matches in Hungary , Czech Republic and Slovakia.
“We believe that Eurosport bears complete responsibility both to subscribers and to these licence holders.”
